Britain’s favourite drink, the humble cup of tea, is now more accessible than ever. Soon, at the tips of your fingers, you can discover flavours you didn’t know existed – from blacks to herbals to oolongs to whites to chais; new app TeaPro aims to revolutionise the tea-drinking experience.
The co-founders, London-based couple, Tatjana and Tom, aim to build a tea community, where members can learn and share their knowledge of tea through their new app, TeaPro, available for download in Mid-April.
The TeaPro app gives personalised suggestions for new teas. Recommendations are based on taste preferences, health, previous ratings, and more to find your perfect brew. You can discover new and exotic teas from a variety of vendors, and add them to your cupboard or wishlist, and review them.
When signing up, you’re asked which teas you already love, and if you’re looking for any health benefits such as detoxing or improving the look of your skin. Then, your discovery feed is compiled with teas most relevant for you.
The idea to build the app came about after Tatjana and Tom stumbled into a tea shop in Camden Town and purchased ‘DragonWell Green Tea’, then the rest was history. Tatjana said “We loved our new unconventional tea purchase and decided to dive deeper into the world of tea, just to find out what else we’ve been missing out on.”
From there, they discovered tens of thousands of varieties of tea, and realised there was no real place for tea lovers to discuss their cuppas, so decided to develop TeaPro, their dream business.
Through asking tea-lovers found on social media and beta-app testers for recommendations, the dynamic duo plan to grow the app, and transform more and more people into TeaPros.
