Former footballer-turned-boxer Stacey Copeland was among the big winners at the Women’s Sport Trust Awards.
Stacey won the individual sporting role model award at the #BeAGameChanger event in London last night.
In 2017, Stacey set up the Pave The Way project for Women’s Sport Week in the hopes of empowering young women:
“It’s about challenging stereotypes and changing perceptions. It came about because I want to be the role model that just wasn’t there when I was a young girl.”
The 36-year-old was up against Chelsea’s Eni Aluko and Manchester City’s Nadia Nadim for the prestigious prize.
