At around 5 pm on Thursday evening, Boko Haram militants rampaged through a village in north-eastern Nigeria. Setting houses on fire and shooting at random, a police source confirmed that the attack had left at least 18 women dead at a funeral in Kuda. A further 10 people were injured in the attack. Kuda, a town, is also a reserve where several Boko Haram militants hide in secluded camps. While the military has not given a comment regarding the massacre yet, Boko Haram regularly stages guerrilla attacks, with the most recent attack in the village taking place on February, an incident in which six people died.
Boko Haram, a supporter of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), has killed an estimated 20,000 people over the past seven years.
