Team GB bobsleigh coach accused of racism

A bobsleigh coach for Team GB’s winter olympic squad has been accused of racist abuse, according to the BBC.

Various athletes of the British Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association (BBSA) reported that they experienced “racism several times” from a senior coach, and that the coach referred to black people as “lazy” and had “a blatant dislike towards people of colour”.

The racism claims include a suspicion of bias towards caucaisian males and consistent sexist comments made by the coach.

The incident comes days after reports of a senior canoe coach grooming teenage girls for sex and adds concerns of the athlete welfare crisis in Olympic sport.
