Joe Hart will not feature in England’s international friendly against France tonight after conceding two late goals against Scotland on Saturday.
Hart conceded two goals from set pieces in the space of three minutes, however manager Gareth Southgate has claimed that he never intended for Joe Hart to feature in tonights match at the Stade de France.
Instead, Stoke’s Jack Butland or Burnley’s Tom Heaton will alternate one half each in goal.
Other team news includes Harry Kane captaining the team for a second match and could see manager Southgate making multiple changes including a start for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who scored after coming of the bench in Saturday’s game.
There could also be international debuts for Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson or Spurs’ Kieran Trippier.
Despite England’s shaky draw last weekend, France too have suffiured from some bad form since reaching the Euro 2016 finals last year. They suffered a 2-1 defeat to Sweden on Friday night.
England’s head to head with France sees England winning 17 of 30 games played and 5 draws. The teams last played a friendly in November 2015, where England won 2-0.
The last match was dubbed an emotinal affair which paid tribute to the victims of the Paris attacks.
Tonight’s game will also feature a tribute, to the victims of the Manchester and London attacks, where Manchester band Oasis’ Don’t Look Back in Anger will be played to the 80,000 people in attendance, followed by a minutes silence.
Newly re-elected Prime Minister Theresa May is said to be one of those planning to attend tonight’s game, meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron for dinner followed by a trip to the Stade de France.
This match will also be the first senior England fixture which features a video assistant referee, which is being trialled as a possible addition to next year’s FIFA World Cup.
The game kicks off tonight at 8pm.
