Bangladesh devastated by landslides

Monsoon rain and landslides in Bangladesh have killed more than 77 people. Among those are three young children buried in their home while they were sleeping. According to Reaz Ahmed the death toll is likely to rise as they have not yet able to recuse people in many areas.

The district police chief, Tariqul Hasan told the press ‘’Some of them were sleeping in their houses on hillsides when the landslides occurred.”

The heavy monsoon rain is effecting the whole country including more than 300,000 Rohingya fleeted persecution in Myanmar.

‘’We are living in constant fear of landslides” Mohammad Anam the Rohingya leader said as the latest rain worsen the conditions of the camp that was previously hit by the cyclone.

The Dhaka Met office reported 343mm of rainfall over the course of 24 hours today. Thousands of troops were dispatched and at least four soldiers who were sent to clear roads died as they were hit by the second landslide as told by The Armed Forces Spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Rashidul Hassan. He later added ’Our team is working here to clear the dirt. We will know the full extent of the damage and casualties after they complete the work”
