Sunderland have agreed a record fee of £30m with Everton for the transfer of Jordan Pickford.
The 23-year-old is now on duty with the England U21 team in preparation for the U21 European Championships and is expected to undergo medicals with the Merseyside club upon his return.
The fee would involve a base of £25m with a further £5m as add-on clauses.
The transfer would make Pickford the most expensive British goalkeeper in history and the third most expensive overall, falling behind Gianluigi Buffon’s move to Parma for £32.6m and the recent transfer of Brazilian ‘keeper Ederson to Manchester City for the hefty fee of £35m.
