It meant that non-essential retail in the City was forced to close once again. Sunny Gill said: \u201cI was so lost when the local lockdown was enforced \u2013 I didn\u2019t know what we were allowed to do and what we weren\u2019t. The government gave us no clear direction.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sunny goes on to say that they thought that even the government wasn\u2019t sure of the laws they were imposing on Leicester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"615\" height=\"409\" src=\"http:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/InvictaNews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/3_map.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/InvictaNews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/3_map.jpg 615w, https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/InvictaNews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/3_map-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><figcaption>The scope of the Leicester lockdown &#8211; Credit: Leicester Mercury <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Jonathon Ashworth MP for Leicester South said in a statement: \u201cThe City, its businesses and its people had suffered a great deal\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Ashworth added that government had failed in being clear to the people of Leicester. \u201cUnclear messaging, or the lack of communication, has been constant during this time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jito Kaur hasn\u2019t seen her grandchildren in months because of the unclear messaging. She said: \u201cI am scared to leave the house for fear of breaking the laws. I miss my grandchildren a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leicester\u2019s restrictions on people\u2019s social contact are still enforced to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Ashworth remains \u201cunclear\u201d on why restrictions were imposed in Leicester in the first place. \u201cThe infection rate in Leicester is far lower than that in Exeter and Nottingham, neither of which are subject to any restrictions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Ashworh said that the government is \u201cfailing\u201d Leicester because the City has been deprived of its freedoms without knowing what is happening and what is needed for the restrictions to be lifted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The people of Leicester are still waiting for the situation to be reviewed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the city of Leicester fast approaches it\u2019s 30th week in lockdown, locals are struggling to comprehend why it is taking the government so long to take control of the situation.
