Cat rescue calls for donations to help save more lives

Wisteria Cat Rescue is run by a man named Billy Devitt who is passionate about helping animals in need. His team works around the clock to provide care for all unwanted, dumped and mistreated cats and kittens in the area.
“We have been running Wisteria Cat Rescue since the beginning of 2020 and we became a registered Charity in September 2020. This year already we have rehomed 462 cats,” said Mr Devitt.
Unfortunately, the charity is finding it difficult to keep up with the increasing number of animals that need help and support.
Vet bills and medication is expensive and the only way to fund this kind of treatment is through donations.
“Sadly, it is challenging as every cat’s needs are different, but as you can imagine, we certainly do go through a lot of litter. It’s always amazing when people do put their trust into us and donate,” said Mr Devitt.
The charity has a Facebook page which shows which cats are up for adoption. Previous adopters also keep in touch with the rescue and give updates on how their cats have been doing since being rehomed.
One of these adopters is Rachel Chapmen from Newington in Kent who is now the proud owner of a cat called Jacob.
“The adoption process was really easy actually, I messaged Billy to see what cats he had available and we went and met our cat Jacob and decided that he was the right cat for us. It was a really good process and much easier than perhaps some other organisations out there,” said Ms Chapmen.
Rachel believes others should support the charity as the work they do is so important and they cannot do it without help from members of the public.
“I would definitely encourage people to donate they do such a marvellous job taking cats that are in such dire need of help and support and Billy just does it without question,” said Ms Chapmen.
