Isle of Sheppey buzzing to welcome blockbuster stars

Jason Statham, star set to film The Beekeeper from Friday to Monday

Stars of the big screen, Jason Statham, and Jeremy Irons are set to film The Beekeeper on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent.

The movie will be filmed across Kingsferry Bridge which connects Sittingbourne and Sheppey. The bridge will be closed off to the public for over three days from 28th October whilst the filming takes place.

The crime adventure movie, The Beekeeper follows a man’s brutal campaign for vengeance after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organisation known as The Beekeepers.

As much as excitement builds around Sheppey for when they welcome the celebrities, logistical issues about commuting are beginning to rise and are causing stress amongst commuters.

Locals are concerned about how they are going to get around and how the alternate delays are going to occur as a result of shutting a vital crossing.

One regular user of the bridge, Josh White is annoyed about the closure he argued that “at a time when we need more money, they choose to close the bridge and stop me from going to work,” in the middle of the cost of living crisis.

This comes just over a week after Tom Cruise was spotted in the county at Chatham historic dockyard filming his latest instalment for the mission impossible franchise.

This is neither Statham’s nor Irons’ first rodeo of filming in the county, Irons has previously filmed three blockbusters here and Statham had two take place here. Notably Hummingbird (2013) which starred Mr Statham, similarly was filmed on the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge in Dartford.
