Rishi Opinions
On Tuesday, The first Prime Minister of Asian descent Rishi Sunak came into power, following Liz Truss’s resignation from office for only 44 days.
Any Prime Minister elected to run the country faces criticism and mixed opinions. Today, I have gone to Gillingham high street, Medway to collect the public’s views.
The majority of the public I have interviewed have expressed they want to be able to completely put their trust in Rishi Sunak to lead the country.
There is anxiety about another Conservative leader running the Country. As a result of this, many members of the Gillingham Public would love for a general election to be held.

In interviewing members of the public, a young couple expressed their concerns about Rishi’s previous Transphobic comments.
As society has come more inclusive and supportive of the LGBTQ+ community, the couple stresses the importance of having a leader who will also be supportive of LGBTQ+.
Other members of the public aim for Rishi to build up the economy and question if he can derail the public from falling deeper into the current ‘cost of living crisis’.
When asked about the confidence the public has towards Rishi Sunak being a great leader, many members of the public express their lack of faith in him.
This has been built by the damage of previous Conservative Prime Ministers, Boris Johnson and Theresa May.
Can Rishi bridge the gap and gain the Publics’ trust again?
