Rochester cocktail week giving town ‘a buzz”

For the first time ever Rochester cocktail week is doing a winter edition of their event which runs from the 1st until 12th February.
The idea behind the event is that everybody who wishes to get involved buys a wristband and then can enter any of the 28 participating bars and restaurants for cheaper cocktails and access to each of their one-off signature specials for the week.
This event should help the small businesses in the hospitality industry that have to fight their way through January to financially survive after everybody blows their budget at Christmas and bring more people into Rochester and the surrounding Medway towns, “its bringing people into Rochester and its giving a buzz to the town and bringing welcome money into our bars which we really need.” said a local pub owner

Carole Edwards from Rochester Bar, also participating, said on Thursday; “it’s a really exciting event, it started yesterday, Wednesday and its only on for 12 days and it should be great for everyone as everybody has been struggling financially in January.”
Rochester Bar also has “special cocktails made for the actual event, [theirs] is the medway mule, it’s a take on the Russian classic, made with vodka, ginger ale and lime, oh its sublime.”
To get the £10 wristband that gives you access into the event, you have to buy them online and plan your night out using the map which displays all of the 28 participating venues but it’ll be hard to get lost when 19 are in Rochester’s main High street but be sure to wear the band out to take full advantage of the night.
