Packed out Priestfield awaits for Gillingham FC in League Two clash with Crawley Town on Saturday

The January transfer window may be shut now, but Gillingham Football Club certainly made the most of it.

They have made ten signings under new owner Brad Galinson, who will be hoping the additions will make the difference when they take to the pitch in front of a packed out Priestfield against Crawley Town tomorrow.

Since his takeover, the mood seems to have shifted at the club, and with it, results have followed.

Striker Tom Nichols signed from Crawley in the Winter window, and hopes to bring a new dimension to the Gillingham attack: “I mean, there’s good players at this club, and they just haven’t been firing.

“Hopefully I can be the missing piece to link it all together.”

Gillingham take on his former side Crawley on Saturday, who also find themselves on the wrong end of the table.

The Reds announced their new manager Scott Lindsey last month, and sit in 20th, four points clear of Gillingham.

Fans will be flocking to a packed out Priestfield on Saturday, with all available seats already sold out.

It’s part of a pay what you can initiative, encouraging Gills fans to support the side from just £1 a ticket.

Manager Neil Harris has emphasised the impact the fans can have: “Brad and Shannon have come up with the initiative, to do it, because they want to attract more fans.

“They want people to come and see the new Gillingham, and anybody who maybe lost a little bit of love in the last couple of seasons, or for Covid, or financially.

“Look, just come and see us, just come and get the match day experience.”

Gills midfielder Alex MacDonald has provided three assists in three games, having found himself in and out of the starting 11 for the first half of the season.

He is looking forward to welcoming supporters to Priestfield on Saturday too: “I think it’s a fantastic incentive.

“I think the way Brad and Shannon have come in, and I think it was one of the first things they did was put this offer on for the Crawley game, knowing how big of a game it was for us, and how important it was for us.

“Yeah, I think it’s a fantastic offer, and I think it’s great that it sold out as quickly as it did, and hopefully that will help the boys on Saturday.”

Over 8,000 people will be in attendance on Saturday, with Gills fans hoping for a win, and three points that could take them out of the relegation zone.
