South London teenager charged with murder at the Old Bailey

A teenager has appeared in court charged with murder in South London.
Caudel Haughton, 19, of Conisborough Crescent, Lewisham appeared at the Old Bailey for a short hearing on Wednesday via video link from Thamesmead prison.
The defendant is accused of stabbing to death Felipe Oliveira, 21, in Norwood Road in Tulse Hill on 15th April.
Mr Haughton did not respond when asked by the court clerk to confirm his name. The Recorder of London, Judge Mark Lucraft said “If he’s choosing not to respond to the court I will assume that he is the defendant”
Mr Smith added that the attack was witnessed by a bystander who at attempted CPR, but the victim died at the scene.
The cause for death was given as single sharp forced trauma to the chest.
A plea and trial preparation hearing is due to be held on July 12th 2023.
A provisional trial date is due to be held in March 2024.
The defendant was remanded in custody.
