Jewel thief who stole over £10,000 worth of rings arrested
A jewel thief has been arrested for stealing over £10,000 worth of jewellery from businesses in Maidstone and Bluewater shopping centre.
Daiana Anghel, 23 has pleaded guilty to possessing over 60 fraudulent articles, the majority being fake rings, as well as two counts of theft.
She will be sentenced on the 23rd February at Luton Crown Court.
Kent Police had been investigating claims since August 2022 when H Samuel in Bluewater had a woman steal three rings with two rings replaced with fake rings.
Just one month later, another theft took place in Maidstone as a ring valued nearly £9000 was stolen from Cornell and Sons.
Anghel from Luton was arrested by constables from the Maidstone victim based crime team on Wednesday, January 11.
H Samuel, the jewellers have had numerous thefts in the last few months. The well-established store are doing everything they can to prevent any further thefts.

Faye Berry, assistant manager, has said further protocols in the shop have been implemented.
“We now have a strict one ring out at a time policy to prevent anyone from attempting to swap rings” she said.
“The Bluewater security team have been really helpful, we have a radio that can directly contact them quickly” she added.
Members of staff have received training to help deal efficiently with crime and are now aware of a new protocol to deal with thefts.
