Murray sets the Australian Open on fire with his wins

Andy Murray has once again fought back to beat Thanasi Kokkinakis in an extraordinary Australian Open match last night even with a metal hip and 10 years older than Kokkinakis, the British player won 4-6 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 7-5.

The second-round match started at 22:20 and lasted five hours and 45 minutes. The father-of-four has spent nearly 11 hours on the court in two matches at this year’s Australian Open.

This was the longest match of Murray’s whole career. Murray shared his thoughts on the duration of the match to Sky Sports “I don’t know who its beneficial for, we come here after the match and that’s what the discussion is, rather than it being like, ‘epic Murray-Kokkinakis match’ – it ends in a bit of a farce”. He shared his anger after being refused to have a bathroom break during the five hours play off.

The longest match to ever been played in tennis history was between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut at Wimbledon in 2010. Murray is set to play against Roberto Bautista Agut at 8am on Saturday at the Margaret Court Arena.
