The country’s biggest supermarket chain has raised the price for its popular lunchtime meal deal for the first time in more than a decade as costs charge.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently priced at \u00a33 for Clubcard holders, the deal will be rising to \u00a33.40. For all other customers, a meal deal will be \u00a33.90, up from \u00a33.50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is second time tesco have increased their meal deal price this year\u00a0after prices rose from \u00a33 to \u00a33.50 for non-Clubcard holders in February whilst the price for Clubcard holders remained at 3 pounds.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This comes as food prices are rising at their fastest rate in 42 years,<\/a>\u00a0which is squeezing household budgets for people all across the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tesco Clubcard is a free loyalty card scheme that gives customers discounts.\u00a0Tesco blamed the latest hike on rising inflation but they justified this adding that prices had remained at \u00a33 for most people since 2012.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But prices have also increased from other supermarkets too. Both morrisions and Sainsburys have increased their prices by 50 pence and the co-op has raised their meal deal by 25 pence which now costs \u00a34.00, making it most expensive meal deal amongst the popular retailers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tesco said on 5 October that it expected annual profits at the lower end of its previous guidance, blaming uncertainty over how consumer spending will evolve.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
