The Gills return to league action tomorrow as they take the trip to the Bescot Stadium to face Walsall in Sky Bet League Two (3pm kick off).

Caretaker manager Keith Millen will take charge of his second league fixture as his side sit third in the table after grabbing a 2-1 victory over Milton Keynes Dons last weekend in his first game as manager.

Gillingham suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat midweek to League One Portsmouth in the EFL Trophy.

Team news

Scott Malone will be unavailable this weekend through suspension after accumulating five yellow cards, while Cheye Alexander is on international duty with Saint Lucia.

Timothee Dieng is set to be sidelined for a couple of weeks, while Anthony Nadesan, Shaun Williams, George Lapslie and Robbie McKenzie are all also in doubt for tomorrow.

The opposition

Walsall currently sit 17th in League Two, seven points behind the Gills heading into this weekend’s fixture.

Mat Sadler’s side also tasted defeat in the EFL trophy earlier this week – losing 4-2 on penalties to Forest Green Rovers after a 1-1 draw in normal time – while their last league outing saw Sutton United breeze past them 4-0 away from home.

Head-to-head

Tomorrow’s match will be the 119th time the two sides have faced off, with the clubs having a very close record – Gillingham coming out victorious on 47 occasions, with Walsall winning 46 and the other 25 games resulting in draws.

The last meeting between the two was back in March this year, where the Saddlers claimed a 2-0 win in League Two, courtesy of goals from Isaac Hutchinson and Connor Wilkinson.
