The Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has made the decision to sack his Home Secretary following her controversial comments which were blamed for the violent protests on Armistice Day.
Suella Braverman who attended the Cenotaph yeseterday, was accused of an alleged “attack on the Met” over Saturday’s policing of the pro-palestinian peace march.
James Cleverly has now been appointed as the new Home Secretary in a move to repair the trust broken between Tory MPs and senior police officers.
In his first comments as Home Secretary he said:
“As the home secrtary I am absolutely committed to stopping the boats as we promised, but also making sure that everybody in the UK feels safe and secure…”
Another shock to Downing Street today, as ex-prime minister David Cameron returns as the new Foreign Secretary. However, according to a poll on YouGov UK, 38% of the British public believe this is the wrong decision.
The “Cabinet reshuffle” is now set to look like the following:
- James Cleverly is to replace Suella Braverman as Home secretary
- Ex-prime minister David Cameron becomes Foreign secretary
- Victoria Atkins is the new Health Secretary
- Laura Trott becomes chief secretary to the Treasury
- Steve Barclay replace Therese Coffey as Environment secretary
