Gillingham’s winless streak continued this week as they fell to a 2-1 defeat to Fleetwood Town.
The Gills winless run has now stretched to 76 days—the longest drought in the English Football League this season.

They are one of only three EFL teams to have still not registered a league win in 2025 so far. Derby and Luton Town are the other teams to join them on this embarrassing feat.
Manager John Coleman admitted his side was the “architect of their own downfall” after they registered 13 shots but failed to find a second goal.
Gillingham started the match as the stronger of the two sides, taking the lead in the 39th minute through Elliott Nevitt. However, goals from Mark Helm and Ryan Graydon turned the game in Fleetwood’s favour.
On the hour, Cod army goalkeeper Jay Lynch made two crucial saves in quick succession to deny Oliver Hawkins and Nevitt.
The final 15 minutes saw a barrage of attacks from the Gills. Hawkins came the closest when he hit the bar from inside the box, but Fleetwood’s defence held firm denying the home side any chance of salvaging a point.
Looking forward, Gillingham face relegation threatened Morecombe on Saturday who currently reside second bottom of the League 2 table. Coleman called this: “A huge game,” and that his team must be aware that “If we don’t pick up points, there is a real threat of being pulled into a relegation battle.”
Gillingham are currently nine points clear of relegation, but a loss against Morecombe could move them three points closer to the drop.
With just 14 games left of the season, the threat of relegation looms closer and closer.
