Stephen Clemence’s Gillingham take the trip to South Wales as they face Newport County on Saturday at Rodney Parade in Sky Bet League Two.
The Gills currently sit ninth in the table, level on points with Notts County and Harrogate Town, with the former holding the final playoff position.
A victory for the Kent club will see them extend their unbeaten run to four games and if results go their way, they will return to the playoff places.
Their last league fixture saw them denied a victory at Priestfield in midweek to Swindon Town, as Oliver Hawkins and Connor Mahoney’s goals to give the hosts the lead after Sean McGuirk’s opener were cancelled out by Harry McKirdy’s stoppage time leveller.
Newport County lie 14th in the league just four points behind their opponents and the playoffs as they look to keep their promotion hopes alive.
The Exiles had been on a seven-game unbeaten run, including four consecutive wins in their last five matches, which came to an end in their previous outing where they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Notts County.
The two teams have faced off 83 times in their history, with Gillingham winning 28, Newport 38 and the other 17 resulting in draws.
It was the Welsh club that came out on top in the reverse fixture back in October, as two Omar Bogle spot kicks gave the visiting team a 2-0 win in Kent.
