Its grandeur and solemnity left me in awe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But as an international student studying in the UK, I always miss my hometown, Suzhou, and would like to invite you to visit it in the future. In this blog, I will recommend some of the best places to visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Visit Suzhou China\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Js64LPVrtwE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Video from YouTober: andyt<\/em>o<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Suzhou is situated in the middle of the Yangtze River Delta and the southeast of Jiangsu Province. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It shares borders with Zhejiang to the south, Shanghai to the east,&nbsp;the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Yangtze\">Yangtze River<\/a>&nbsp;to the north, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lake_Tai\">Taihu Lake<\/a>&nbsp;to the west. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city is characterized by its flat and low-lying terrain, and it is adorned with several rivers and lakes, most of which are situated in Suzhou. Moreover, Suzhou is one of the first 24 historical and cultural cities in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><strong>\u201cThere is Paradise in heaven as there are Suzhou and Hangzhou on earth.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><cite>suzhou is renowned for its beauty with the famous saying above<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"727\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/7e2b8ec950824456aa6aefcbe12cf7a4-1-727x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-50\" style=\"width:841px;height:1184px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/7e2b8ec950824456aa6aefcbe12cf7a4-1-727x1024.jpeg 727w, https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/7e2b8ec950824456aa6aefcbe12cf7a4-1-213x300.jpeg 213w, https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/7e2b8ec950824456aa6aefcbe12cf7a4-1-768x1082.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/7e2b8ec950824456aa6aefcbe12cf7a4-1.jpeg 946w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you enjoy places with a rich historical background and a vibrant cultural atmosphere, I suggest visiting the series of gardens and ancient towns in Suzhou. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Suzhou Gardens are typical of classical gardens in southern China. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Humble Administrator&#8217;s Garden, Canglang Pavilion, Lion Forest, and Lingering Garden are known as the four famous ancient gardens in Suzhou. In fact, these gardens were inscribed on the World Cultural Heritage List in 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/ZSzrgzYU8a.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-51\" style=\"width:840px;height:473px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/ZSzrgzYU8a.jpg 800w, https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/ZSzrgzYU8a-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/ZSzrgzYU8a-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The oldest garden dates back to the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 1041-1048), and the Humble Administrator&#8217;s Garden is the largest and most famous among them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The &#8220;Humble Administrator&#8217;s Garden&#8221; is the most well-known and expansive among Suzhou&#8217;s classical gardens. It was initially the dwelling place of Tang Dynasty poet Lu Qiemeng and later transformed into the &#8220;Dahong Temple&#8221; during the Yuan Dynasty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the Ming Dynasty, in the reign of Zhengde, Wang Xianchen returned to his hometown and purchased the ruins of the Dahong Temple, which he then restructured into a residential garden known as the &#8220;Humble Administrator&#8217;s Garden.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"387\" src=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/21276975_21276975_1369409542733_mthumb.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52\" style=\"width:841px;height:452px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/21276975_21276975_1369409542733_mthumb.jpg 720w, https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/21276975_21276975_1369409542733_mthumb-300x161.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Suzhou Museum is also a must-visit attraction, where you can see many local cultural relics on display, including paintings, porcelain, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/\u672a\u547d\u540d\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-79\" style=\"width:840px;height:630px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/\u672a\u547d\u540d\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/\u672a\u547d\u540d\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/\u672a\u547d\u540d\u7684\u8bbe\u8ba1-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another recommendation is Shantang Street, my personal favourite. Here are some recommendations:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Jinji Lake: <\/strong>the most significant urban lake park in China, with modern amenities such as shopping malls, cinemas, and bars.&nbsp;Meanwhile, the famous landmark Suzhou Center is located next to it, as well as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gate_to_the_East\">Gate to the East<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"738\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/u3035437893240201476fm253fmtautoapp138fJPEG_0.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-66\" style=\"width:841px;height:570px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/u3035437893240201476fm253fmtautoapp138fJPEG_0.webp 738w, https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/u3035437893240201476fm253fmtautoapp138fJPEG_0-300x203.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 738px) 100vw, 738px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Guanqian Street:<\/strong> a bustling commercial street with plenty of food and entertainment options.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"562\" src=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/1000.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-67\" style=\"width:840px;height:472px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/1000.webp 1000w, https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/1000-300x169.webp 300w, https:\/\/centreforjournalismprojects.co.uk\/kentstandard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/1000-768x432.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Yuanrong Times Square:<\/strong> known for the &#8220;world&#8217;s first sky curtain&#8221;, a giant LED curtain 500 meters long and 32 meters wide, which cost hundreds of millions of yuan.
