With a special tribute to Colin Blythe, an English cricketer who was killed in action in 1917.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blythe is argued to be the greatest cricketer to be killed in the first world war, and so his death was hugely mourned around the country.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canterbury Cricket Club\u2019s Chaplin tells us &#8220;it&#8217;s always very moving to remember the sacrifices of these young men as there were.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regimental Sergeant Major of the third Battalion princess of Wales royal regiment, Scott Thomas, laid down the wreath to show respect to the ones we\u2019ve lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sir Thomas has served in Afghanistan, Northern Ireland and Iraq, and has been in the army for twenty-two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said &#8220;Throughout my time, I have lost people close to me, so it&#8217;s important for remembrance to continue, not just from the World Wars, but for this generation of wars.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tomorrow marks Remembrance Day where a two-minute silence will be held, to remember those who have served and sacrificed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Sunday, there will be a national service of remembrance that will commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military, civilian servicemen and women involved in the two world wars and later conflicts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the Spitfire Cricket Ground in Canterbury, members of the local community are taking the time to remember the soldiers that fought in the war.
