A man has been sentenced to a total of 28 months following a string of drug-related offences including threatening a man with a knife at his home in Rochester last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Steven Miskin, 46, of no fixed address, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court yesterday, and was handed a 22-month sentence for threatening behaviour with a knife in a public place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was given a further six months for dangerous driving and a 36-month driving ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Miskin, who has 61 previous convictions, was also handed two, three-week sentences for possession of Class A and B drugs, to be served concurrently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
‘Swinging a kitchen knife’<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The court heard how on 24 May 2023, shortly before 11am, Miskin was seen fighting with another man in Rochester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The prosecution said the defendant was seen “swinging” a 4-5 inch kitchen knife at another man while running down the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The other man was injured and sustained a cut to the forearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n CCTV at the time of the incident shows Miskin can be heard shouting at the other man to \u201cstay away\u201d from his house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Police later recovered the bloody blade from Miskin\u2019s property and found a number of other bladed weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The court heard that three weeks prior to the incident, Miskin had been attacked with a knife, sustaining an injury to his neck. The defendant claimed this had frightened him and led to the incident in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The defence said that Miskin believed that the man he assaulted with the kitchen knife was an associate of the person who had slashed his throat less than a month before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Speeding through Chatham<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The court heard the defendant was also arrested for dangerous driving on 3 December 2022 after he was caught speeding through a red light in Chatham while under the influence of cocaine and cannabis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He later crashed his motorbike into the side of another vehicle during a police chase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The defendant did not have insurance and was found with one wrap of cocaine and one wrap of cannabis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A man has been sentenced to a total of 28 months following a string of drug-related offences including threatening a man with a knife at his home in Rochester last year.
