A local curry house has brought the community together to raise funds for a headteacher diagnosed with cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alex Moir, 47, Head Teacher of Parkwood Primary School, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer which spread\u00a0from his oesophagus to his head, lungs, spine, adrenal glands, pelvis\u00a0and liver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is already being treated with chemotherapy and antibody therapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spice Fusion, a curry-house opposite Parkwood Primary School, organised a fund-raising evening of food and music to help raise around funds for Mr Moir\u2019s treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets came at \u00a325 per adult, with \u00a315 from each ticket being donated to the fund. \u00a0On each table was also a list of ‘house’ drinks, \u00a31 from every drink purchased will went to the fund with over \u00a33,000 raised on the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening included musical entertainment provided by Ffion Spring and Wilson Beattie. Ffion, 14, is an accomplished singer and a former pupil at Parkwood Junior School and Wilson, 13, is a guitarist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rajeev Gupte, owner of Spice Fusion, put together the fundraiser and gives special thanks to a generous member of the community who recently donated an extra \u00a3397.70 after a company meal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said: \u201cWe held a fundraiser in December to raise funds for Alex\u2019s life prolonging treatment. We raised just over \u00a33,000. This particular customer had brought tickets and was at the fundraiser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey work for a well-known company and were planning their works Christmas do and prepaid \u00a31,000 but as December is busy for them they booked it for January. Their number of people that came, was less than budgeted for, and so there was money left over and it\u2019s this which the customer asked to be put into the fund.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn my now six years in the restaurant business, I\u2019m constantly coming across the most incredible, generous and selfless people. This weekend was no exception.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of today \u00a342,297 of the targeted \u00a350,000 has been donated with over 1000 members of the local community contributing to the cause. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
