A church service in Whitstable is looking to debunk some of the stereotypes attached to Sunday services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Runway Service, part of St Alphege\u2019s Church, is a new worshipping community that started back in June that looks to do something different with a more informal approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is common for a church service is held in the morning, but Runway hold their services on a Sunday evening and includes contemporary worship songs, snacks, short talks and discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Daniel Ralph, the church Ordinand, is hoping to \u2018dispel the myths\u2019 of Sunday services and bring more young adults closer to religion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cChurches that are more traditional, there\u2019s a real beauty but it\u2019s not for everyone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe want to dispel some of those myths. We wanted Runway to be a place where people can rest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Runway service is aimed at people between the ages of 18-40 and they are hosted once every month on a Sunday.As well as the in-person congregation, they also connect online every Wednesday evening, and it seems to be having a positive effect among its community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joel Samuel McGibney, an attendee at the service, said: \u201cChurches are quite boring, especially for young people. It\u2019s like a refresh for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emma Webb, who gives up her Sunday evening to volunteer and help run the service, added: \u201cI love it. It brings me closer to God and brings me joy and peace.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
