Spate of car break ins across Sheerness

Residents in Sheerness have reported a spate of car break-ins, with windows being smashed and valuables being taken. Social media users have reported a number of break-ins across the town in the past fortnight, with one resident claiming that her £800 coat was stolen from her vehicle.

Kent Police confirmed that they have been notified of the theft of a coat, pushchair and two small television screens from a car parked in Berridge Road, between 11pm on 11 January and 8.30am om 12 January.

Police Sergeant Tim Smith, from the Swale Community Safety Unit said: “While we are investigating this offence, I would urge car owners to make sure you lock all doors and close windows whenever you leave the vehicle. Never leave anything valuable on display and if possible, remove it from the car overnight. If feasible, park in a garage, secure car park or well-lit area.”

Anyone with information which may assist the investigation is asked to call 01622 604 100 quoting reference 46/8435/20.
