Homeless shelters in Medway this winter
As the weather gets colder and the days become darker, it’s the sign for Christmas Day and New Years. Festivities are on the way but it also becomes the most dangerous time for those who are homeless.
Due to the cost of living crisis, many people are losing their homes everyday and it’s becoming harder for stability.
To some Christmas time is for celebration and being connected with their loved ones but to others it is a fight for survival.
Homelessness in Medway has increased since COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to struggle this winter.
Shelters like One Big Family, Pathways to Independence and AMAT UK are shelters based in Medway to help and support those who are homeless or have just lost their homes.
Councillor Vince Maple talked to me about how the council will support the shelters this winter.
