An arrest warrant has been issued against Cleveland Browns player Odell Beckham Jr on a charge of ‘simple battery’ from New Orleans police.
Beckham Jr, 27, appears to strike the backside of a policeman at the Louisiana State University in a video released on Wednesday night.
The Policeman clearly wasn’t flattered by the footballer, with the incident taking place shortly after LSU players won college football’s most prestigious prize.
In a statement given yesterday, The Browns’ said: “We are aware of the incident and have been in touch with Odell and his representatives on the matter.”
“They are cooperating with the proper authorities to appropriately address the situation.”
Beckham Jr is never clear of the headlines after being traded to The Browns’ last year recording 1035 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his first season alone.
Further videos released also appear to show Beckham Jr handing out money to the LSU players, something banned by the NCAA rules which prevent student-athletes from receiving “impermissible benefits” such as cash.
In a statement, the LSU said: “Information and footage reviewed since shows apparent cash may have also been given to LSU student-athletes.”
“We were in contact with the NCAA and the South-Eastern Conference (SEC) immediately upon learning of this situation.”
“We are working with our student-athletes, the NCAA and the SEC in order to rectify the issue.”
Beckham Jr is yet to respond to the claims himself with the videos likely to do little in helping his cause.
