Hundreds of protesters march to demand Theresa May’s resignation and support for Grenfell Tower victims on the day of the Queen’s Speech

A number of protests coincided with the state opening of Parliament deemed the ‘Day of Rage’. The first of mass demonstrations organised by the Movement for Justice By Any Means Necessary (MfJ).

The last protest of the day was organised by Stand Up to Racism, called “Protest the Queen’s Speech: #MayMustGo – no to racism and bigotry #notourgovernment.”

Opposed to the government’s alliance with the DUP, “a party notorious for its history of vicious sectarianism and bigotry”, they say.

They marched from Parliament Square to Downing Street and back chanting with placards and banners attacking Theresa May, the Tories as well as Kensington and Chelsea council for the Grenfell fire.
