Demand for stricter gun laws after deadly terrorist attack

<> on January 5, 2016 in Delray Beach, Florida.

After the recent terrorist attack in Christchurch New Zealand, the demand for stricter gun controls has been very heated. Less than a week after the terrorist attack, New Zealand has implemented stricter gun controls, banning military style weapons and semi-automatic guns.

However, some countries are still grappling with the issue of guns and gun control. The president of Brazil has said that he would loosen the countries already moderate gun laws to allows citizen to buy guns for self-defence.

The National Rifles Association (NRA) are up in arms over demands to introduce similar laws to New Zealand with the NRA claiming that unlike New Zealand, United States citizens have inalienable right to bear arms.

The map below shows the seven different countries that have different level of gun control and how they tackle the issue of gun violence.
