Jordan Peele’s ‘Us’ is a nightmare brought to life.

Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated new horror movie ‘Us’ will finally be released in cinemas across the country from 22nd March. The Oscar winning writer-director-producer who gave us the critically acclaimed horror ‘Get Out’ will return to the big screen tomorrow with another dark and twisted story that’s sure to be a huge hit.

The story follows the Wilson family who take a trip to Santa Cruz where things take a chilling turn for the worse when they are confronted by murderous doppelgängers. The movie begins with the mother Adelaide’s (Lupita Nyong’o) childhood trauma at a funhouse. This then becomes the backdrop for the rest of the movie as her past comes back to terrorise her and her family (Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex).

The movie is set to explore themes of doubles, shadows and our own inner darkness in this disturbing home invasion. The cast give an impressive performance as both the Wilsons and their twisted lookalikes, set with manic grins and menacing gold scissors. The movie combines tropes from home invasion horror, monster movies and supernatural thrillers to bring a shared nightmare to life.

It comes just as the horror genre is having a resurgence in popularity and Peele’s fresh take on a universal fear is guaranteed to leave audiences terrified. Unlike 2017’s ‘Get Out’ which balanced between the horror and thriller genres, both the director and reviews of ‘Us’ are firmly placing it as a true horror story.

‘Us’ is a horror movie.— Jordan Peele (@JordanPeele) 17 March 2019

After a 2nd viewing I’m getting very comfortable calling #USMovie a masterpiece. Still a thrill the 2nd time around but also surprisingly tragic. Don’t think I’ve seen a film challenge a viewer to understand another perspective like this. Psyched for the conversation it’ll spark.— Perri Nemiroff (@PNemiroff) 20 March 2019

Holy cow, #UsMovie is quite a ride – terror, suspense and comedy, wrapped in mystery and style. Jordan Peele is exactly what Get Out introduced us to – one of the most exciting filmmakers working today. I’m anxious for a second viewing (and a third Jordan Peele movie). — Dan Murrell (@MurrellDan) 20 March 2019

It’s everything a horror fan could want. If I were you I would get your tickets now.
