Stranger Things trailer is out so here’s what you missed

Netflix just dropped the trailer for season 3 of Stranger Things and a lot has changed since the last time we’ve been to Hawkins, so here’s what we’ve learnt so far.

1.It’s 1985 now and our favourite supernatural-hunting gang are ‘not kids anymore’. It’s partially because the actors are growing up (Gaten Matarazzo aka Dustin is almost 17 and Caleb McLaughlin aka Lucas is turning 18 this year) and partially because it’s been 2 years since we last saw them. It only makes sense that Netflix acknowledges the time jump.

2. Even though they’re in high school now we won’t get to see how that affects the plot because for the first time, season 3 takes place during the summer. Dustin only just came back home (maybe from the summer camp?), Billy is a lifeguard and we’ll get to see them celebrate the 4th of July. It might exciting to see how it will affect the overall aesthetics that so far had the dark/fall/80s vibe.

3. The relationships are still on! Mike and Eleven are now dating and so are Lucas and Max. Even though when we last saw them, it seemed like they weren’t even capable to talking of each other, Max and Eleven are friends now and we get to see them having the most adorable sing-along. And of course, everyone’s favourite duo is back and better than ever with Steve and Dustin (they have a secret handshake now!).

4. There can’t be only good news though, and we can see tell there are going to be some new challenges that the group will have to face, both human and supernatural ones. There’s the protest outside the mall, the new mayor that will most likely become our next bad guy (a new character played by Cary Elwes) and what’s with the weird buffalo-looking Demogorgon 2.0? Well, we can only wish everyone good luck!

5. We might be going back to the Upside Down. In the trailer we can see the kids suspiciously sitting around, maybe trying to contact someone or form a new portal? That, plus the odd thing on Billy’s shoulder that looks very similar to what Will had in the past season and of course all the monsters, which show us that the struggle is not over for the kids and there’s a new batch of trouble coming.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait until the season drops on July 4.
