Is extinction imminent? Art could hold the answer

A discussion panel recently took place at the University of Kent with the aim of answering the question – is extinction imminent?

Scientists, activists and artists gathered to discuss the possibility of the mass extinction of humankind and the role art has to play in the climate conversation.

Exhibiting her award winning short film, Himali Singh Soin spoke of the importance of art as a form of expression when discussing the environment and the idea of human extinction.

Scientist Dr Simon Beard is weary of eco-anxiety, excessive worry over the state of the environment, and believes it is not the right approach to the current climate emergency.
