Rainham resident’s concerns over Bakersfield housing developments on Station Road

A Rainham woman believes that she is being wronged in relation to a building development taking place next to her house.

Maggie Francis of Finwell Road, Rainham, has raised her concerns regarding the Bakersfield development along Station Road.

She has said that the buildings are backing on to her dwelling even though Medway’s regulation guidelines state that ‘new buildings should not be imposing or intimidating to existing properties’.

With help from local MP, Dave Harris, Maggie has begun the initial stages of a complaints procedure but feels as though now that her lines of communication have been cut off.

“I am a ‘persona non grata’ as far as the developers are concerned and I feel I am being deliberately ignored and people associated with it and on site have been told not to speak to me,” the Rainham resident said.

“I struggle to get to speak to anyone – they all run a million miles away when they think they might have to answer any questions.

“There are seven houses being built alongside my property and the issues that have arisen are totally awful…so many issues which are now taking up a huge amount of my time.”

Developers of the site, McCulloch’s, are building 90 dwellings on the site. The company was unavailable for comment at this time.
