You plonker! Man warned after handing police ‘Del Boy’ driving license

A Norfolk man has been reported to the courts after handing police a fake driving license belonging to ‘Del Boy’ when pulled over today.

The man, who has not been named, was found to be driving with no insurance or license, with the only license in his position belonging to Peckham-based wheeler dealer Del Trotter, from Only Fools and Horses.

The license also only qualified the driver to operate a three wheeler, rather than the Renault Megane he was behind the wheel of.

Norfolk and Suffolk Police also tweeted the incident, saying ‘Not even this #Plonker ‘s fake driving license could stop their car being seized.’

After ‘Del Boy’ was stopped by police, he also proceeded to recite faux-french phrases such as ‘pot pourri’ and ‘bonnet de douche’, which Trotter was fond of doing on the show.

Del Boy Trotter and his brother Rodney’s schemes to become millionaires spanned 7 series’ and 10 years on the BBC, and won numerous BAFTAs.

Police said the man was not intending to confuse them with the fake license, with them also saying “It made us laugh.”

This case is not dissimilar to one earlier this month, where a man who was pulled over by police in Milton Keynes presented a license belonging to Homer Simpson.
