Maidstone’s first cruelty free hairdresser opens its doors to the public

A vegan hairdresser has set up a hair and beauty salon in her home in Maidstone, which uses cruelty-free and animal-friendly products.

Nichola Anderson, 43, became vegan three years ago after seeing a Facebook post of a cow being reunited with her calf.

She is one of the best representatives of the vegan movement in Kent and her business is attracting lots of clients who are not necessarily vegan.

“I’m trying to do my best in making changes wherever possible to reduce harm to the planet, to the animals, to my health and to my clients’ health”, she says.

They are now even requesting for additional services to be introduced in a place where every aspect is against animal testing.

Dominika Piasecka, the Media and PR officer of the Vegan Society, which is the world’s oldest vegan organisation, welcomes new places like Nichola’s salon.

She also believes that the vegan movement is growing at an exponential rate.

“It’s quite safe to say that the future of veganism is very bright because we have seen a really huge increase in the number of vegan options”, she said.
