Royals touch down in Tonga- albeit later than anticipated

by Tommaso Dimiddio, reporter

Harry and Meghan’s landing in Tonga was slightly delayed today as they had to wait for another aeroplane to move.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew to Tonga as part of their first overseas tour as a couple.

They currently are on Day 11 of their 16-day royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.

As it is known, the Royal Tour kicked off with a very exciting pregnancy announcement.

During their visit in Tonga, Harry and Meghan visited a handicrafts market and a school.

The Tupou College Boys welcomed the Royal couple with a traditional song which is supposed to push away mosquitoes from them.

In a speech, the Duke said that going to Tonga was like visiting “an extended family”. He also read a message from his grandmother, the Queen, which spoke of the ‘close relationship’ between the royal families.

The Prince signed off his speech with “malo ‘aupito”, Tongan for “thank you very much”.

The couple have already visited Australia, where Harry opened the Invictus Games, as well as Fiji.

The 16-day tour will finish in New Zealand.
