Say No To Racism Protest: a firm start to London’s week of demonstrations
By Ayo Alli, reporter
Banners, chants and dancing galore as the Say No To Racism Campaign held another protest against discrimination on all fronts on Saturday the 17th of November.
The streets of central London were filled with thousands of protesters who came together from all parts of the UK
Medway Locals also joined in on the action to represent their area in the protest. They boarded a free coach from Gillingham to London to meet up with the rally in London.
The message of anti-fascism was prevalent yet many on social media deemed it divisive.
Vince Maple from the Medway council said he was pleased with the display of unity from the local to the national level. He also said the protest showed solidarity against hate, sexism and racism.
“Those views are not compatible with 2018 Britain or 2018 Medway.”
Some people on social media felt it was equating being right wing to fascism.
One user also said most of the causes they were defending were made up.
If you look at their tweet regarding the previous demonstration. It says they think the march is about racism, Islamaphobia and anti semitism. So that must be the evidence. Dreamt up in their tiny minds pic.twitter.com/BLkwzPB9I2

This protest was the start to London’s week of protests with even the police warning drivers to stay away from main roads.
Just as the protest ended another one was announced in response to Tommy Robinson’s rally at the start of December.
