Fly-tipping complaints is on a rise as council increases collection charges.
More residents are complaining about fly tipping and rubbish being left around Medway.
Labour leader, Vince Maple has spoken out saying the increase in complaints is due to
inflated charges.
He said: “Complaints have increased since the introduction of charges for collection of bulky
waste.
“I’ve seen a great rise in individuals raising concerns around fly tipping and street cleaning.”
Studies from the BBC shared statistics unit show that these charges could go as high as £40
per item in some areas. Local councils say that they have to increase these fees because of
budget cuts.
A twitter account called “Rubbishroad” sends updates about areas where rubbish has been
found and calls on Medway Council to clean it up.

The council has replied saying they are working on ways to deal with this issue.
Councillor Maple added: “This has certainly damaged the community pride”
