Mr Stone faces seven charges as part of the Muller Probe, which investigates connections between the election campaign for Donald Trump and Russia in 2016.

The charges include obstruction, witness tampering and making false statements.

Roger Stone was indicted on the 24th January and arrested on the morning of the 25th in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

He is set to appear in court on Friday, 25th January and expected to plead not guilty.

The indictment relates to whether Mr Stone was in contact with Wikileaks about documents stolen from the Democratic National Committee and passed this information on to the Trump campaign in 2016.

In the time leading up to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange’s press conference on the 4th October 2016, Roger Stone had allegedly been in contact with Wikileaks through an intermediary, as well as high-ranking Trump campaign aides.

When nothing damaging to the Clinton Campaign was released on the 4th October, the indictment said Mr Stone was contacted by members of the Trump campaign, asking about whether more information would be released.

On 7th October, Wikileaks released the first set of emails which would go on to damage the Clinton campaign. After the release, Mr Stone is alleged to have received a text message from a member of the Trump campaign telling him ‘well done’. He also allegedly took credit for the release in conversation.

Roger Stone is one of trumps longest serving informal political advisors, having worked with the President since the 1990s. Though he was never formally employed by the Trump campaign, Mr Stone worked on the Nixon and Reagan campaigns.

He also recommended the hiring of Paul Manafort to the Trump campaign, who would eventually go on to become the Campaign Chairman.

Mr Manafort will also appear in court on the 25th January. He is said to have breached a plea agreement that he entered after being indicted in 25 separate counts by the Mueller Probe.
