The poetry book sales have currently risen by 12% over last year. Nielsen Bookscan recently released statistics showing an increase in poetry book sales by over £10 million pounds.

This is due to an increase in the amount of currently young people reading poetry. According to these figures, the biggest consumers were young women and girls with over 40% aged 13 to 22 years old.

Andre Breedt from Nielsen said the boom in poetry sales can be chucked to the context of the times; during uncertainty and political instability, people turn to poetry and attunement.
