Chad orders oil giant to pay enormous fine

Oil company Exxon Mobil have been ordered to pay a $74 billion fine to Chad – more than five times the country’s BNP – due to unpaid taxes and royalties, according to Bloomberg. American lawyer Jeffrey Atik says Chad probably won’t get much out of the fine. Instead the company is expected to leave the Chad and all of its assets in the country.
