Kent’s Sam Billings in line for England chance after Alex Hales is ruled out of India series

Kent batsman Sam Billings could get the chance to prove his international credentials in the final ODI against India on Sunday.

It comes after Alex Hales has been ruled out of the rest of the series with a fractured hand, freeing up the opening batsman spot alongside Jason Roy.

Billings impressed in a warm up game, scoring 93 as England defeated India A.

The tourists may have made changes anyway having lost the first two games of the series but with three T20 contests still to come opportunity knocks for Billings.

The final ODI is in Calcutta on Sunday.
