Trump’s Inauguration
Hello, my name is Seb Wainwright and throughout the course of the afternoon I will be live-blogging the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump. Look out for updates on this page!
And the 17-minute speech is over.
Finishing with ‘the Donald’ line “make America great again!” President Trump leaves the podium to cheers and hugs. Dark tone throughout and a lot of finger-point at the politicians stood directly behind him.
“There is no room for prejudice…When America is united, it’s unstoppable.”
Trump: “We will bring back our jobs, we will bring back our borders, we will bring back our wealth, we will bring back our dreams.”
Very populist message so far: “America first.” Tries to speak to mothers, children, the poor. Themes: Crime, drugs, American carnage
And just like that, it’s started to rain. Interesting…
Trump: “There is little to celebrate for struggling families across our land. That all changes from here and now because that moment belongs to you. This is your day, this is your celebration and this, the USA, is your country.
Trump: “This is the day the people became the rulers of this nation again. The forgotten men and women of this nation will be forgotten no longer.”
