Canterbury Varsity: Kent and Christ Church begin their battle in the pool

Thursday saw the start of the annual Canterbury Varsity sports festival between bitter University rivals Kent and Canterbury Christ Church.

Kent are looking to add to their 17 successive victories, and it all started yesterday at Kingsmead Leisure Centre in Canterbury.

As well as swimming, the two universities will also square off in sports such as football, basketball and rugby.

There were a variety of mens and women’ team and individual battles, and tune in tomorrow to find out whether Kent seized the initiative, or if Christ Church were able to upset the odds.
