Canterbury & District Model Engineering Society’s Chairman ‘thankful’ for all the help

For a total payout of around 36 pounds in scrap metal, thieves have cost the Canterbury & District Model Engineering Society thousands of pounds in damages. And for the children who would have their birthday parties here, disappointment.

On the early hours of Sunday, thieves stole about 200 feet of of model train tracks from this park in Sturry.

Paul Kemp is the Chairman of the Society and he’s very happy with the support they’ve received since then

Soon after the theft, Chris Hollaway from Chatham set up a justgiving page to raise 2000 pounds to help cover some of the costs, and it’s more than halfway there.

Paul said he didn’t know people cared this much about their society.

The goal is to have the trains at full steam by May, but for now all trains are cancelled.
