Murder investigation continues over Rochester stabbing

A murder investigation continues today following a fatal stabbing in a flat just off Rochester High street in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The victim who is believed to be in his 30’s is yet to be identified and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Two men aged 35 and 42, both from Medway, have since been brought into police custody.

Police had initially been called to the scene just past 6am in the morning and had cordoned off the site on Almon Place where they and forensics have remained while inquiries continue.

Yesterday’s events left many locals feeling fearful with some saying they felt “too scared to walk to work in the morning”, while others weren’t surprised by the news.

National based statistics (published by Plumplit) suggests crime in the area has jumped in recent years with Rochester now having the 5th highest crime rate out of a possible 104 postcode areas.

With crime in the area seemingly getting worse, concern is growing over the authority’s ability to ensure crime such as this ceases to continue.
