Lewis Hamilton is coming for all the records

Watch out Formula One, Lewis Hamilton is coming for the all-time championship record.

After clinching his sixth Formula One Championship last year and second in a row, Hamilton posted a message on Instagram stating: “I’m going to be a machine this year, on another level than ever before!”

Hamilton can match Michael Schumacher’s record of seven F1 championships next season but not only faces competition from Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas who won a career-high four races last season but from young stars Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen who race for Ferrari and Red bull, respectively.

Hamilton has won five of the last six F1 championships and could also equal Schumacher’s tally of race win in the upcoming season.

The opening race of the season is on March 15th in Australia and Hamilton will start the 2020 season seven victories short of Schumacher’s record 91 race wins.

Hamilton is out of contract at the end of the 2020 season but is likely to resign with Mercedes after rivals Leclerc and Verstappen signed new deals with their teams.

Hamilton has the opportunity to become, *statistically, the greatest Formula One driver of all time and can lead Mercedes to a seventh straight championship, a feat that has never been done before in Formula One history.
