Students all across the UK have returned to campus this autumn and fresher events have resumed. Throughout the last year young people were limited to the amount of parties they could attend. Now vaccinations have been made available, students are able to enjoy fresher events and parties.

Wearing face masks are now a thing of the past and everyone is dedicated to creating the best nightlife for students. Societies and clubs in universities are now hosting many more events to encourage a large amount of people to interact.  ACS(Afro-Caribbean Society) have organised meet and greets aswell as parties which have been very successful. President Simi Adejoke believes that “students should not be stuck indoors forever”.

During the 2020 lockdown the government announced there would fines worth up to thousands of pounds for those hosting mass parties. Students who joined during the last year had limited social lives and this was very detrimental on a lot of people’s mental health. Allowing more events to happen will give students the chance to make friends and enjoy themselves.

On the other hand in clubs and bars there has been an increase in the amount of spiking which may cause many female students to avoid clubbing. Within universities there are welfare support officers to provide support to those who feel unsafe. Students need to be able to feel comfortable at all the venues they attend.
